The Honest Man

Robin McPhillips has been researching and writing about the life of Jonathan Sturges and his family since 2012. She obtained her Master of Arts Degree in American Studies from Fairfield University in 2009.  Her master's thesis on the effect of immigration on an Old New England town (Fairfield, CT) is on file at the Fairfield History Center and Museum and was a docent there for several years.​

Robin was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy. After a career in the active Navy and Naval Reserves she retired as a Captain in 2006 and in 2003 as an Aerospace Program/ Project Manager with Sikorsky Aircraft.  

The author is a member of Biographer's International (BIO); the Nineteenth Century Studies Association (NCSA), the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) and the Organization of American Historians (OAH). She is married to Tom McPhillips and has two adult children.  After residing in Fairfield, Connecticut, for 24 years she now lives in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
